Purpose: The purpose of this study was to compare and analyze the differences in the medical service satisfactions of main caregivers of elderly inpatients according to the grades of long-term care hospitals.
Methods: The medical service satisfactions of 282 main caregivers of three different grades in Busan and Gyeongnam were measured. Data were collected from August 1 to September 30, 2011. The data were analyzed by descriptive analysis, x2 test, t-test, one-way ANOVA and Tukey post-test using the PASW Statistics 18.0 Program.
Results: The overall average satisfactions turned out to be the highest in grade 3 hospitals (109.29¡¾0.68). Then grade 1 hospitals (92.31¡¾0.53) followed grade 2 hospitals(104.02¡¾0.61). Within grade 3 hospitals, satisfactions with nurses (F= 68.68, p<.001) were higher than satisfactions with doctors(F=22.79, p<.001).
Conclusion: The finding of this study demonstrated that the medical service satisfactions were the greatest in grade 3 long-term care hospitals, which was the reverse to the results of the appropriateness evaluation of Korean Health Insurance Review & Assessment Service. Based on the results, the effective evaluation systems including medical customer satisfactions should be developed and implemented.
